Just another day in a broken world

Hello people on this community! I am Japanese living in Japan.  I've been studying English intensely these years, but I feel that I would never be able to be a skillful English speaker or writer.....   People on this community must be really good at English writings.  Please teach me! I want to post my writing here so I would be be so pleased if you'd  correct it.  This is nothing related to my homework or anything.  It is just a writing to my friend.  But it is a bit urgent.  Thank you very much!

I give it to you exactly the way it was written. Yes, even with TWO ats on the same line.
(Bugger, is that plural at supposed to have an apostrophe or not?)

While I was at the post office one day, I happened to notice a flier advertising child care services. However, what was written on the flier caused me to do a double take because it just didn't seem right:

"Seeking for a nanny?"

I must admit that I've never seen the phrase "seeking for" before, although I have seen both "seeking" and "looking for". As far as I was concerned, the "for" was already understood when using the word "seeking". I could be wrong, though. What do you think? Was the flier badly written, or am I totally missing something here?

Oh god. I just finished editing and uploading my pictures from this year's D*C, and I can already tell my report is gonna be LONG and PICTURE-HEAVY. You may want to sit down for it. (Because I know you people stand at your computers... which I find pretty weird. Why do you do that, anyway?)

I took 29 pages of handwritten notes as well, including snippets of quotes from panels, so - if I can manage to decipher my writing - be warned that this report will contain SPOILERS for such shows as Battlestar Galactica and... well, mostly just Battlestar Galactica. But isn't that enough? Other spoilers will be marked as we come to them. Also, there is much squee over Gareth David Lloyd and Tahmoh Penikett, among others.

Fandoms covered by this report: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dollhouse, Torchwood, and Battlestar Galactica, with special appearances by Lord of the Rings, Heroes, and Lost, and very brief cameos by Harry Potter and Smallville.

Undoubtedly, I am leaving something out. But hey, that's part of the fun of con reports! Surprises! ...Right?

don't even get me started on why would you even think you saying "no" and meaning it would have been a feasible option anyway, especially under such circumstances

I saw a fandom secret the other day in which the person said that they would be more into the BSG fandom if it wasn't so homologous. And it really is true. Far too often, almost every fic compiled over at the_wireless is either Adama/Roslin or Kara/Lee. And I have to admit, that's one thing that makes me sad about this fandom as well.

I think if more people were writing more rare pairings, it would generate interest from other people and then it would just be this big snowball effect. (If only in hopeful theory.) I myself have been attacked by lack of muse and excess of little hater over much of the summer and so I very much feel that I'm not doing my part on that end. Not that it's all up to little ole me, but there's still the guilt in complaining about something I myself haven't done anything about.

My question for the bsg fen on my flist is this:
Is there a "rare pairing" bsg comm? If not do you think the fandom would benefit from something like that? What pairings would you exclude? Adama/Roslin and Kara/Lee only since they comprise about 85% of fanfic in this fandom? Or would you include other canon pairings as well like Helo/Sharon?

Another, somewhat related, question: Didn't there used to be a bsg fic finders or bsg fic recs community? Where is it? What happened to it?

Switching gears for a moment. Another thing I wanted to bring up, related to LOST, is something that slybrunette mentioned to me, and something I'd actually been thinking about.

Simply beautiful vid. The editing is so seamless and flows wonderfully. There's some awesome parallels made between the various fandoms used in this vid and they all compliment each other very well. There's such a deep heartache in this video - it grabs ahold of you and stays with you even after you're done watching it. Definitely check it out!

This is for the 'Nekid Number' prompt over at NS. When I randomly selected my numbers, I ended up with the prompts of Angel, a feather and a convent....Heh, go figure. ;-)

Well, I decided to go a different way for this than I could have done and I have a manip and ficlet under the cut, exploring a form of escapism for Angel and Spike. It's a little dark, rated R for language and religious imagery.

Our apartment looks like a tornado went through it.

We're rearranging and changing and pretty much redoing half our apartment. Minus paint cos that is just too much work. Moving the books into the bedroom, the TV to where the books were, the piano where the TV was, putting drawers for clothes where the DVDs and videos were... and so on.

We've already packed five boxes with books to sell or give away and thrown away numerous bags with all kind of junk. And found stuff we forgot we had, including two CDs I got from hellziggy and had totally forgotten. Hubby said chances were you were still cursing me for never saying thank you. Did I? I can't remember! Looking forward to listening to them, I tell ya!

Right now the apartment is a total mess but I'm looking forward to when we're done because hopefully it will reduce the clutter considerably. We can't do it all now, since we need furniture for the new TV corner, like a couch in front of the TV and shelves around it and we have no money to spend on that so it will have to wait. Our comfy chairs and a table or something will have to do. A friend of hubby's gonna lend us their 32" flatscreen TV for a year since they are keeping her brother's 42" TV while he's away. You know what that means? Hi-def freckles!!

Hubby is worried our living room will look really empty but I told him if we hate it we can always change back. Except less dust this time. OMG, so much dust! *coughs up a gray lung*

We've stopped for now, gonna continue tomorrow. And probably the rest of the week. I just want to be done before next weekend so I can spend that doing nothing at all in a nice, clutter free and clean apartment. I'll put up pics once were done in case anyone is interested.
